Background

The Rotary International organisation is the world's largest service organisation that exists purely to help others. It is the largest fellowship of men and women in the world, dedicated to peace and understanding with over 25,000 clubs in over 160 countries around the world.

The Rotary Club of Thurso is part of the 1010 district which stretches from Fife in central Scotland to the Shetland Islands in the far north.

The Thurso Club's participation in this worldwide organisation is very much focused on the local community where in the Thurso and the surrounding area we:

Hold and help others hold fundraising events for charities
Sponsor charitable organisations in Caithness
Help in the local community
Encourage the development of young people
Encourage local endeavors

To fulfil its aims worldwide, some of our funds are also contributed Rotary International. To find out more about Rotary and the Thurso club, follow the links on the left of the page.

Make a difference in our local community....

Do you believe that helping others is more important than your own self-interest?
Do you enjoy informal networking with like-minded business and professional people?
Do you want to help those less fortunate than yourself at home and abroad?

If so, the Thurso Club has a welcome for you. The person is more important than the profession. Your experience and expertise will be valued by us and, when you become an active Rotarian, you will appreciate what "service above self" can mean.
