Benches, bins, etc

This is a general work section which covers all the existing and new paths throughout the complete riverside area and deals with the provision of additional benches, repairs to existing benches, general waste bin and dog waste bin provision.  In addition the retention of the Fitness Course has to be considered.

It is suggested that the Mall and Riverside walks have a severely inadequate bench provision and number and siting of waste bins.  It would seem appropriate to make allowance for a radical increase of fittings and numbers are suggested at 15 benches and bins in locations to be agreed with HRC Protective Services.  Of course these items fall within the domain of the Local Authority but it is considered that a funding sum be included in the Study.

The question of the Fitness Course requires continued debate but it would appear that the various units have outlined their usefulness.  In the short term steps should be taken to repair and renovate the few items which are worthy of retention and it is proposed that the remainder of the fittings be removed and the sites made good.
