Charity Concert Thurso Rotary Club's All-Stars Charity concert was once again a roaring success with great music, a participative audience and over £1800 raised on the night for 'Sight Savers'. Below are pictures of the attractions.
Above: The Melvich Gaelic Choir Below: Clapshot The Melvich Gaelic Choir, led by conductor Raymond Bremner, are currently practising hard for the Royal National Mod in October in Stornoway. They gave a foretaste of their singing before the festival. Clapshot were formed four years ago and played a mixture of traditional Irish, Cape Breton and Scottish music.
Left: Celia MacDougall Right: Pentland Brass Band Celia sang a medley of Scottish songs in traditional style, unaccompanied. The Pentland Brass Band, drawn from caithness and Sutherland, under leader Ronnie McKain, played the Royal Engineers' March Wings, All Through The Night and the Keel Row.
Below: Thurso Players Assorted members of Thurso Players acted out Robert Service's classic poem, The Shooting of Dan McGrew'.
Below Left: Stuart Whiteley and Friends Centre: Matthew Field Right: Bruce Gordon Stuart Whiteley and friends have a wide experience with anumber of bands and come together to play jazz. Matthew Field, accompanied by his father Peter on the piano, played Bartok's Romanian Folk dances and Monti's Csardas. Bruce Gordon played a selection of music for the bassoon and was accompanied by Robert Field.
