The Mall River Project

Current Projects

The Club currently has one major project; development of the Thurso River "Mall" footpath.

The "Mall"

In 2001, Thurso Rotary organised for a section of the Mall to be repaired and upgraded to allow better use to be made of this popular local and tourist attraction. The following year the Club embarked on a far more ambitious project – to totally develop the entire north and south riversides south of the A9 road bridge. To find out more about the proposals, click here or follow the link to the next page where you can find the feasibility study.

The club  held a public meeting to discuss the project. It was chaired by Caithness Highland Council Convener, Councilor John Rosie. Several members of the local public attended and the meeting unanimously agreed that the Council should support this venture.

Please watch the local press for details. The entire project is expected to take 5 years.”

MALL 2004

After the successes of the past 3 years the Mall development continues in 2004 with the replanting of the rose beds, the provision of litter bins, a litter pick to get the Spring and Summer project of to a good start and the early stages of a project to improve the children's play area adjacent to Mill Road.  As the project develops information and pictures will appear in this section of the website.

MEADOW WELL

The establishment of the Meadow Well preservation and viewing area in Thurso was a past project of Thurso Rotary Club.  The time has now come to refurbish the Meadow Well and Well area at the corner of Traill Street and Manson's Lane and the Club are to the fore again in this worthwhile project.
