Rotary Sponsored Speech Making

Seven pupils from the 3rd and 4th years of Thurso High School competed in this years Rotary Sponsored Speech Making event held at Thurso Colleges Flagstones restaurant.  This popular community occasion which has been run by Thurso Rotary Club since 1977, gives youngsters the opportunity to further develop their social and communication skills.   An attentive audience heard excellent presentations on an extremely diverse range of topics covering Gaelic heritage, domestic abuse, bee keeping, making money, anti social behaviour and being a goal keeper.  All the speeches were of an extremely high standard with the judging panel led by Rev Johnson eventually declaring Philip Todd the overall winner with a thought provoking talk on `Life without TV’.   Philip was presented with the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, the RYLA Shield, by Rev Johnson and the evening was rounded off with a fine buffet provided by members of the Rotary Club.
